Shipping: The Fourteenth Step in the Journey of Oud
Share
When the shipment is packed and its documents prepared, it sets out on its international journey: shipping. This is the step that actually moves the oud from the country of origin to the customer's country, through documented shipping bearing a tracking number that allows the journey to be followed to the door. In this article we address how oud is shipped, why the tracking number matters, from where we ship, and how long the journey takes.
Shipping: the start of the international journey
Up to this step, the piece was prepared in a single place: cleaned, dried, graded, packed, and documented. But shipping is the actual movement that carries the oud across countries to the customer. And thus the oud turns from a stationary piece in the preparation center into a shipment on its way to your door.
And the international shipping of oud requires a doubled care, because it carries a high value across long distances. And so documented shipping that allows the shipment to be traced is chosen, not ordinary shipping whose trace may be lost. For every shipment of oud deserves to be followed step by step.
Documented shipping with a tracking number
The most important thing that distinguishes good shipping of oud is the tracking number that accompanies each shipment. For this number allows the customer — and the store — to follow the shipment's journey from the moment it sets out until it arrives, and to know where it is at each stage. And this tracking is not a luxury, but a reassurance for the customer who paid for a precious piece and awaits its arrival.
The tracking number turns waiting from worry into following along. For the customer who sees their shipment moving step by step is reassured that it is on its way to them, instead of waiting in uncertainty. So we are keen that the tracking number accompany every shipment.
From where do we ship, and how long does the journey take?
We currently ship from Indonesia, where the sources of oud and its preparation centers are, and we are working to expand in the future to shipping from other countries. And the duration of a shipment's arrival varies according to the destination and the shipping and customs procedures; a shipment to the Gulf states may arrive within a few business days, and may take a little longer according to the circumstances. And we avoid stating decisive numbers for the duration, because it changes with the change of destination and situation.
And we have detailed our place in the supply and shipping chain on the page our oud sources. And the important thing is that the customer know from where their shipment sets out and that it is documented with tracking, not that we promise them a duration we cannot guarantee.
From shipping to clearance
When the shipment sets out on its international journey, an important station remains before it reaches the customer: customs clearance in the destination country. For shipping moved the shipment across borders, and clearance is what allows it to enter the customer's country officially. And with the two together the international crossing journey is completed.
And thus shipping has carried the oud to the borders of the customer's country. And in the following axis of this journey we move to the fifteenth step: clearance.
A shipment reaching the destination country does not mean it is delivered at once; for the stage of customs clearance remains, which allows it to enter officially. For shipping carries the oud to the border, and clearance admits it into the country.
