Displaying the Oud in the Store: The Nineteenth Step in the Journey of Oud
Share
When the oud is preserved well, it remains for it to be presented to the customer in the best state: displaying the oud in the store. For the display is the meeting point between all the work that preceded and the customer who awaits: here the grade, the weight, the image, and the description come together on a single page before which the buyer decides. In this article we address the role of the display, why it must be honest, and how it paves the way for the oud to reach the end user.
What is the role of the display in the journey of oud?
The display is the station in which the piece meets the customer before purchase. For everything that preceded — finding, extraction, processing, sorting, grading, documentation, and photography — comes together at last on a single display page in which the customer sees the piece with its grade, weight, image, and description. So the display is not merely an advertisement, but the front at which the honesty of everything before it is tested.
And in this sense, the display is the link that turns the long work into a purchase decision. For the customer does not see the forest, nor the preparation center, nor the shipping journey, but sees the display page; and so this page carries the responsibility of representing the whole journey honestly.
The honest display: a description, an image, and a grade
A good display combines three pillars: an honest description that states the type, origin, grade, and weight without exaggeration; a truthful image that shows the piece as it is; and a declared grade on the same criterion by which it was graded. For when these pillars come together, the customer buys knowing exactly what reaches them, not guessing.
The customer sees nothing but the display page, so it alone carries the responsibility of representing twenty steps that preceded it. And so the honesty of the description, the image, and the grade in the display is not a marketing detail, but an integrity toward a long journey.
The display is a bridge between the store and the customer
Because the scent — the essence of oud — does not travel across the screen, the display remains a conveyor of the form and the description, not of the fragrance. And so we offer the sample as a bridge that completes the display page: whoever wants to test the scent themselves before a large acquisition begins with a sample they smell and judge. And thus what the customer sees in the display and what they smell in the sample come together.
And browsing the oud in our store is available by type, origin, and grade, from natural oud to the different grades, so the customer sees the options and compares between them on a single criterion.
From the display to the end user
When the piece is displayed honestly and the customer decides to buy it, the last step in the journey remains: the oud reaching the end user in their majlis. For the display brought the piece closer to the purchase decision, and the last step places it in the hand of the one who will burn it so its fragrance wafts. And thus a journey that began in a remote forest and ends in a Gulf majlis is completed.
And thus the display has presented the piece to the customer in the best state. And in the following and last axis of this journey we move to the twentieth step: the oud reaching the end user.
The display page conveys the form, the description, and the grade, but it does not convey the scent. So the sample remains the most truthful means of testing the fragrance before a large acquisition, completing what the store displays with what the customer smells.
